“ I've been in the service industry for almost 20 years. And the two things I care about the MOST when I go out to eat, is the SERVICE, and the QUALITY of the food. (Prettiness is key too, but sometimes good food can come outa anywhere) Yesterday was my first time visiting Kountry kitchen. (I have a huge family and they've been here multiple times, but I had no idea what to expect.) I can confidently say though, my expectations were absolutely BLOWN away when I realized what jewel this restaurant is. Firstly, it is GORGEOUS! They have a lil bar, the paintings and pictures are so unique. I enjoyed the ambiance very much. The service was also awesome, the people were so pleasurable, and I really appreciated it. Loved Tanisha very much, and our server (I can't recall her name) was great too. Awesome people. But the food... The food... guys... it was INCREDIBLE!!! The food was so good, that I would've served that hot honey chicken to Jesus if he came by my house to say hi. When I started breaking apart the chicken, the freshness and juiciness of the meat, steamed and dripped down my fingers... when I dipped the chicken into the hot honey and tried it, my eyes watered. The seasonings in all of the sides were PERFECT. (I only needed hot sauce and vinegar for my greens.) I could NOT stop eating that chicken. The owner came by to ask us if we were enjoying the food, and when I found out who she was, I IMMEDIATELY shook her hand and let her know, this food was made with REAL LOVE! You could legit TASTE the love in the food, like a seasoning. I was HAPPY and full after my meal at Kountry Kitchen, and I just wanted to get in here to tell y'all about it too. 10/10 recommend. ”
“ Stopped into this Indy staple for lunch while downtown for the day. While I've made a visit many years ago, this was my first time to the newly remodeled restaurant and it was stunning inside! Leslie was our waitress and was incredibly kind. I ordered a sweet tea (it was made fresh) and their fried chicken meal with greens, sweet potatoes and an extra side of mac & cheese. My friend ordered their neck bones dinner with two sides too. He loved it! The greens and fried chicken were as delicious as I remembered - well seasoned and cooked to perfection. I will pass on the Mac & cheese though, it was okay and was more stove top than southern baked. I am only giving this 4/5 stars due to the mac, the cornbread, and the cost. After tip, our lunch meal came to $70. LorT that's a lot for a lunch, a soul food one at that. I was glad the service was so good and I would recommend this spot to anyone looking for a nice sir down soul food joint in Indy - it's a Circle City staple. ”
“ Kountry Kitchen reopened in October 2023 after a fire. During the NBA Allstar game in February 2024, the restaurant was highlighted on television. I finally made it to Kountry Kitchen 13 months after the grand reopening with a friend. She's a Soul Food aficionado. It was worth the wait. Walking in, the interior is updated with murals of celebrities with ties to Indianapolis in the foyer. The food was plentiful and tasty. Our server was fantastic and he came back to check on us several times. The large picture window looking out toward College Avenue let a lot of natural light into the restaurant. We didn't have a drink this time. There is a well-stocked bar for future visits. ”
“ Of course I had to get some more catfish but this time I did 3 pieces. The greens are a hit like always! The catfish is nice and crispy! Mmm ”
“ I've been here for a few events over the summer and have had a blast each time. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly and hilarious, and the service is always great - especially given we had large groups. Be sure to check out the new event venue and rooftop space. ”
“ Kountry Kitchen is a soul food standard in Indy. They are known for their variety of down home main dishes and sides, all with a comfort food emphasis. Everything we tried was good and well seasoned. The rib tips, pot roast, fried corn, cabbage, yams and black-eyed peas were tasty. Each dinner came with corn bread which was light and buttery. The location is recently rebuilt as a fire destroyed the original building. The dining room seems much smaller than before and it appears that much of the location is set up as a banquet hall. When we were there, the service was on the slow side as the place was very busy. I will tell you the food was definitely worth the wait. They seem to do a lot of take out service and that is probably the route I would take next time. Just know that however you experience Kountry Kitchen, you will be glad you did. ”
“ Really enjoyed the seafood combo that I got which had catfish, shrimp, and corn bread, with green beans and mixed greens as my sides. Corn bread is hit or miss for me, but this one was great! The only downside was that it took our group of 3 a while to get our food, but we weren't in a rush. I'd probably opt to order online and pick it up the next time I'm in Indianapolis. ”
“ Honestly Shaq sent me but now I'm sending you? Kountry Kitchen is a legendary spot, you'll see homage paid to many notable people who have visited including President Obama. Pretty cool, but how's the food. Everything is your standard soul food, I believe at a premium cost but worth it for the legacy and the quality. Seating is a bit tight but in a way it adds to the charm. I had the combo meal which is an excellent value if you're looking to try a couple of things at one go. Meatloaf is nice, incredibly juicy and just the right amount of ketchup on. The chicken wings are crisp, break apart with ease and once you dig in you taste the seasonings and the tender meat inside. Fried Okra is as good as it gets, what a treat. ”
